How to whitelist a FiveM server
A whitelisted FiveM server only lets in players you've approved. Serious roleplay servers use it to keep out trolls and make sure everyone has read the rules. Whitelisting has two halves: deciding who gets in (applications) and enforcing it when they connect. This guide covers both.
Part 1: Enforce the whitelist when players connect
There are three common ways to stop players who aren't approved from joining. Pick one.
Option A: txAdmin's Discord-role whitelist (most popular)
txAdmin, the panel most FiveM servers already run, has a built-in whitelist with several modes, including checking whether a connecting player has a particular role in your Discord server. Give approved players a @Whitelisted role and txAdmin does the rest. No extra resource, and it works with any framework.
Step-by-step setup: txAdmin Discord whitelist guide.
Option B: A connect script or queue resource
Many servers already run a queue or connect script that hooks playerConnecting with deferrals, checks the player's Discord roles, and shows a message if they aren't allowed in. If you have one, point it at the same whitelisted role.
Option C: An API check from a server resource
A small server-side resource asks your application system directly whether the connecting player is approved. It doesn't depend on Discord roles, and it can record each player's Cfx license to catch alt accounts. FiveApply's resource does this on the Essential and Pro plans: FiveM whitelist resource & API.
| Method | Setup | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| txAdmin Discord role | A few minutes, no code | Most servers |
| Connect / queue script | Edit your existing script's config | Servers with a priority queue |
| API resource | Add a resource and an API key | Alt-account detection, license linking |
Part 2: Decide who gets in with applications
Enforcement is the easy part. The work is reviewing applications fairly and quickly, without losing track of them in DMs, Discord tickets or a spreadsheet.
- Write a whitelist application. Keep it to 10–15 minutes: a few OOC questions, a short backstory, one scenario and a rules quiz. Start from our FiveM whitelist application template.
- Make players sign in with Discord. You'll know exactly who applied, can block alts by account age, and can give them a role when approved.
- Review as a team. Require two or more votes, hide votes until each reviewer has voted, and leave notes for each other.
- Give the role automatically on approval. This is the step that connects Part 2 to Part 1: approved, role given, and they can join.
- Tell applicants the outcome. A DM with the decision (and a reason if denied) cuts “any update?” messages to almost zero.
Part 3: Job and department applications
Once you have a whitelist, players will want to join the police, EMS, a gang or a business. These are separate applications that usually give a job role rather than the whitelist role, and are often reviewed by the department itself. See the LSPD application questions and EMS application questions for templates.
Doing it all in one place
FiveApply is a web app for FiveM whitelist and job applications. Players apply on your community's own page, your staff review and vote in a web dashboard or straight from Discord, and approved players get their Discord role automatically, which txAdmin, your connect script or our resource then enforces. Server whitelist and every department's job applications live in one queue.

Create your community, pick a template and share one link. Players apply with Discord, your team reviews and votes in the web dashboard or in Discord, and approved players get their role automatically.
